Books in European Languages

The Library contains a collection of books in English, French and German. The English books are far more numerous than books in other languages and have been indexed according to the Dewey Decimal Classification. Some books are inscribed with the name of the book’s owner or have writings to indicate they had been gifted to a member of the family such as the book titled “Islamic Architecture and Art,” published in two volumes in France in the 19th century which contains a dedication to Ruhi Al-Khalidi. The library also owns parts of a book entitled "A Collection of British Authors." Among the collections in the library are the original editions of the Palestine Exploration Fund Quarterly journal published by the " British Palestine Exploration Fund.”

The library also contains the Annual Yearbooks from the provinces of the Ottoman Empire (known as Salname), which were published in the last half of the 19th century and early 20th century. These yearbooks provide social, economic and agricultural information about the provinces including the names of Ottoman officials.
